Nigerian afrobeats star, singer and songwriter, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, alias Ayra Starr, has shared her thoughts on what she values when choosing a partner. The star points out that she prioritises intelligence and motivation.

The two-time Grammy Award nominee, in a chat with media personality Diana Eneje, disclosed that she does not place value on physical looks but rather seeks the intelligence of the individual.

She emphasised the importance of emotional intelligence in a partner, noting that she needs motivation in a relationship. “I don’t ever have a physical type. I am just attracted to intelligent people. Just be very intelligent,” she reveals, adding that it’s the Gemini in her speaking.

“Just be intelligent, motivate me, let me also motivate you. Let’s be motivating ourselves to make money. Looks don’t really matter,” she pointed out. The ‘Rush” singer is expanding her presence on the global stage, moving to New York and signing up with Roc Nation. Arya Starr commenced 2026 with the single ‘Where Do We Go’ and is working on a third.

The songwriter also recently clinched an award for Best International Act at the 2026 MOBO Awards in Manchester.
