A House of Representatives aspirant for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, Sarah Adidi, has commended the elevation of the Sarkin Bwari, His Royal Highness, Awwal Ijakoro II, to the status of a First Class traditional ruler in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing it as a well-deserved honour.
Adidi made the remark during an Easter Sunday visit to the monarch at his palace in Bwari, as part of her Easter welfare programme over the weekend.
Speaking during the visit, she praised the monarch for his fatherly role and commitment to the well-being of his people, noting that his leadership has continued to promote peace and development in the area.
The aspirant also used the opportunity to seek the royal father’s blessings and support for her ambition to represent AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, pledging to deliver meaningful change and transformative development if elected.
In his response, the Emir expressed appreciation for the visit and assured Adidi of his continued support, stating that the palace remains open to her and that he is willing to provide the necessary backing for her political aspirations.
As part of the visit, Adidi distributed palliatives, including rice, vegetable oil, spaghetti, tomato paste, and sugar, to women within and around the palace.
The Easter outreach also extended to Agwan Hausawa on Saturday, April 4, located on the outskirts of Lokogoma, where she distributed foodstuffs and relief materials to residents in collaboration with the Gora Foundation.
Items distributed included clothing, laundry soap, Milo, spaghetti, Indomie noodles, cornflakes, rice, as well as cooked meals such as jollof rice and chicken.
Adidi said the gesture was aimed at sharing the joy of Easter with residents, whom she described as key stakeholders in the development of the constituency.
She pledged to work closely with the people, promising to provide basic amenities and infrastructure that would enhance economic prosperity.
She also assured that youth empowerment through skills-acquisition programmes would be a central part of her agenda.
Also present at the event was Gift Gora, founder of the Gora Foundation, who reiterated her organisation’s commitment to supporting underserved communities across the FCT through medical outreach and humanitarian interventions.
