The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested 20 foreign nationals in Kano State over suspected irregular entry and activities.
The State Commandant, NSCDC Kano Command, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday, stating that the suspects were apprehended in the Danbare area of Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Agalama said the arrest followed credible intelligence and a coordinated operation by the corps’ operatives.
According to him, the suspects, who are from Sudan, Chad and other neighbouring countries, were unable to present valid travel or identification documents at the time of their arrest, raising concerns about their entry into the country and their activities within the state.
He added that items recovered from the suspects include 10 Android phones.
“The corps has commenced profiling and detailed investigation to ascertain their mission and possible links to unlawful activities,” he said.
The commandant further noted that relevant security and government agencies had been notified, while appropriate actions were being taken in line with existing laws.
Agalama reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as ensuring internal security across the state.
He called on residents to remain vigilant and to support security agencies with timely, credible information that could help prevent crime.
The NSCDC commandant also assured that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
