“The Oyo State Government has paid over N37 billion in gratuities and death benefits to retired primary school teachers and local government staff since Governor Seyi Makinde assumed office in 2019,” the post read.
According to the post, the N3 billion was disbursed to retirees under the state and local government pension scheme on Tuesday.
Ige further explained that the payment process has been decentralised across the state’s geopolitical zones to reduce the stress and financial burden on pensioners who would otherwise have to travel long distances to access their entitlements.
