SsSsTinubuPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday arrived in Bayelsa State to commission major infrastructure projects aimed at boosting economic growth and improving connectivity in the state.
The President, who landed at the Bayelsa International Airport at about 2:55pm, proceeded to inaugurate the dualised New Yenagoa City Road One linking the Airport, Tombia and Amassoma Road, where a large crowd of residents, including youths, women, elders and traditional rulers, gathered to welcome him.
Other projects scheduled for commissioning include the 60 megawatts gas turbine independent power plant at Elebele, the 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, and the 42-kilometre Sagbama–Ekeremor Road.
Speaking at the venue, chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Buloudiseye Ndiwari, expressed excitement over the projects, stating that the performance of Governor Douye Diri , had exceeded expectations.
Also speaking, chairman of the Gbarain Ekpetiama Rural Development Authority, Tolumona Engedefa, commended the President for commissioning the project and appealed to the federal government to recognise the 32 rural development authorities created by the Bayelsa State House of Assembly as statutory local government areas.
Some residents of the area also shared their excitement, describing the road project as a major step towards development.
Mrs. Ebitukemi Douglas, a civil servant, and Mrs. Favourite Fabiri said the road would open up rural communities, attract development, and improve economic activities in the area.
They noted that the project would ease movement, reduce travel time, and create new opportunities for businesses and residents in the state.
