The Ogun State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the Ogun Women Run, with the Sports Commissioner expressing the administration’s full backing for the 2026 event.
The fourth iteration of the Ogun Women Run is anticipated to be a spectacular occasion, building on the continued collaboration between Brussel Sports Management Limited and the Ogun State Government.
“We are profoundly grateful to the Ogun State Government for the tremendous support provided to the Ogun Women Run since its inception,” stated Mrs. Yetunde Johnson, Managing Director of Brussel Sports Management Limited. “The government’s dedication to sports development has laid the groundwork for the race’s consistent growth over the years, and we are confident that with this ongoing partnership, the fourth edition will achieve even greater success.”
In a clear demonstration of support, the Sports Commissioner commended Mrs. Johnson and her team for their vision and commitment to fostering women’s involvement in sports.
He remarked, “The Ogun Women Run is a commendable platform for promoting women’s participation in sports and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration remains fully dedicated to initiatives that advance sports development and community engagement throughout the state.”
The Commissioner also emphasised Ogun State’s burgeoning reputation as a centre for major sporting events, referencing preparations for the 2025 National Sports Festival, the Confederation of African Athletics U-18 and U-20 Championships, and the West Africa Para Games. He concluded, “The Ogun State Government remains open to initiatives that will further develop sports and create opportunities for our citizens. Events such as the Ogun Women Run align with our vision of utilising sports as a tool for empowerment, unity, and enhanced wellbeing.”
