Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has appointed a chairman and six commissioners for the newly – established Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission (GOSERC).
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the approval, said the appointments take effect from January 21, 2026, noting that the nominees had earlier been forwarded to the Gombe State House of Assembly and confirmed in line with the law establishing the Commission.
Those appointed include Dr. Usman Abba Arabi as Chairman; Engr. Sule Usman, Commissioner for Technical Regulation; Abubakar Sa’ad, Commissioner for Economic Regulation; Engr. Ahmed Ibrahim Pindiga, Commissioner for Rural Electrification; Lydia Ali, Commissioner for Finance and Administration; and Talatu Abubakar, Commissioner for Legal and Licensing.
Njodi said the constitution of the leadership team reflects the administration’s commitment to building a robust, transparent and investor-friendly electricity market in Gombe State, in line with opportunities created by the ongoing decentralisation of Nigeria’s power sector.
In a statement by his director general on press affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, on Saturday, Governor Yahaya noted that that the appointments are part of the efforts to strengthen power sector governance and improve electricity supply across the state.
He expressed confidence that the appointed professionals would provide the regulatory backbone needed to improve service delivery and enforce technical and economic standards in both urban and rural electricity infrastructure.
The governor added that the Commission would serve as a critical institution for driving power sector reforms, expanding access to electricity, particularly in underserved communities.
