Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara south have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term of office.

The Kwara south leaders said the endorsement of Tinubu for another term of office is to enable him consolidate the structural reforms of his administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” that already began to yield measurable economic gains for Nigerians.

A retired director with the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Mr Ibrahim Lawal, who read the resolution of stakeholders at Kwara South APC Mega Rally convened in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun local government area of Kwara State for the re-election of Tinubu and gubernatorial shift to Kwara north in 2027, also passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“We endorse the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 election. The second term of President Tinubu is necessary to consolidate the structural reforms of the “Renewed Hope agenda, which already began to yield measurable economic and infrastructural gains,” he said.

In attendance at the rally were members of the state House of Assembly and local government chairmen from Kwara South and as well as leaders of the ruling party during which the deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Ojo Oyebode, led a motion for the shift of gubernatorial power to the northern zone.

Reading the resolution of the southern leaders, Lawal called for power shift to Kwara north, saying that the region has not produced the state governor in almost 27 years of the current democratic experience.

He clarified that while the southern part of the state led the state for eight years, the central zone has governed for nearly 20 years.

Lawal said the state’s southern leaders resolve for gubernatorial seat to return to northern region is to ensure inclusion, equity, justice and fairness among the three senatorial districts of the state.

He added, “Since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, the governorship of Kwara State has been dominated by Kwara central, which has held the office for approximately 20 of the last 27 years.

“The three senatorial districts have shared power as follows: Kwara central has produced three of the four democratically elected governors since 1999 including Late Mohammed Lawal (1999-2003), Bukola Saraki (2000-2011) and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (2019-Present).

“Kwara south has held the governorship for one full term of eight years. Abdulfatah Ahmed (2011-2019) while Kwara north has not produced a governor in the state’s 27 years democratic history.”

While commending AbdulRazaq for the developmental strides the state has witnessed in the last seven years, the Kwara south APC leaders affirmed their belief in the governor and pledged continued support for the policies and programmes of the state government under his leadership.

Others, who spoke at the endorsement rally including former local government chairmen of Oyun and Isin, Joshua Omokanye and Wasiu Bamidele appreciated Governor AbdulRazaq for the development he brought to the council through masses oriented projects.

They commended the governor’s leadership style in the APC and thanked President Tinubu for delivering on his Renewed Hope Agenda.
