The federal government has opened applications for the second cohort of its flagship Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme.

The Federal Ministry of Education announced that applications for the new cohort commenced yesterday and invited interested Nigerians to enrol in the nationwide skills development initiative designed to strengthen technical capacity and address unemployment.

A press statement released in Abuja by Boriowo Folasade, director, Press and Public Relations of the ministry, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to human capital development, describing the TVET programme as a strategic intervention aimed at empowering young Nigerians with industry-relevant skills needed to thrive in today’s evolving economy.

The minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the initiative aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reflected the administration’s determination to expand access to skills-based education while promoting sustainable livelihoods across the country.

“In strengthening this programme, the federal government is investing in the productive capacity of our youth. By providing practical training and recognised certification, we are creating pathways for self-employment, innovation, and long-term economic growth,” Dr. Alausa stated.

As part of the efforts to broaden opportunities within emerging sectors, the Federal Ministry of Education is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism to enhance training in creative and cultural trades to unlock the vast potential of Nigeria’s creative economy while expanding employment opportunities for young people.
