Kachikwu Slams David Mark’s ADC Faction Over Court Order Violation

Dumebi Kachikwu, former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned what he called a brazen violation of a Federal High Court order by a faction of the party led by David Mark.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Kachikwu, said the court had on April 14, 2026, ordered _status quo ante bellum_ in the case between ADC state chairmen and the Mark-led group. The ruling, he noted, barred all congresses or conventions until the matter is determined, yet a convention was held in the ADC’s name.

He questioned the intent of politicians who “flout court orders,” arguing they cannot mean well for the ADC or Nigeria. In his view, their agenda is to trigger a breakdown of law and order through political gangsterism, preferring chaos to allowing others to govern if they cannot have power.

Kachikwu described Tuesday’s event as a “show of shame” focused solely on attacking President Tinubu and the APC, with no suggestions on what the opposition would do differently. “The opposition’s duty is to offer counter-arguments and proposals, but the group displayed neither competence nor ideas,” he said.

Drawing a parallel with 2014/2015, Kachikwu likened the current coalition to the “Pharisees” who mobilised for Buhari, saying eight years of that administration grounded the economy.

He accused the same political class of regrouping to push former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Governor Peter Obi, despite unresolved insecurity in their home regions.

He criticised Atiku for not addressing killings by some of his kinsmen and faulted Obi for failing to rally stakeholders to resolve IPOB and ESN activities that have decimated the Southeast economy.

Kachikwu said they are “playing politics with the blood of innocent Nigerians” in pursuit of power at all costs. Warning that Nigeria is fragile and breaking at the seams, he cautioned the “old political class” against institutional sabotage.

He said the anarchy they seek to instigate could also consume them, stressing that the real ADC will hold its convention within the law and not serve as a platform for vendettas.

To President Tinubu, Kachikwu said three years have been lost to distractions by a political class of friends, leaving the country ununited after a bitterly contested election. Urging the President to galvanise Nigerians against common enemies, he warned, “You have lost the vocal minority; don’t lose the silent majority. You won the war, but not the peace.”
