The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has arrested two men over alleged rape and defilement of minors in Akure, the state capital.
The arrests, which were made in separate operations, were confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Daniel Aidamenbor, on behalf of the state commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye.
According to the statement, one of the suspects, identified as Emeka Innocent, a 22-year-old farmer, allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl at the SIB area of Igbatoro in Akure on March 3, 2026.
The NSCDC said the suspect fled the community after the incident but was later tracked and apprehended by operatives at Idanre community following weeks of investigation.
In a separate case, the corps disclosed that a 38-year-old tiler, Ayodele John, was arrested for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl in her parents’ residence along Oda Road, Akure.
The suspect was said to have committed the offence on April 13, 2026, and was arrested the following day after the matter was reported to security authorities.
The Command noted that both suspects had made confessional statements during interrogation and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
It stressed that the prosecution of the suspects would serve as a deterrent to others who might contemplate similar crimes.
The NSCDC, however, used the opportunity to call on parents and guardians to be more vigilant, particularly in monitoring individuals who have access to their homes and children.
The statement reads in part, “The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, under the leadership of Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye JP, wishes to inform the general public of the arrest of 2 suspected rapists in Akure.
”Both suspects have made confessional statements and will be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others.
”The command is using this medium to inform parents and members of the public of the need to do proper profiling and checks in on their artisans. Parental duties should not be outsourced. In these cases, both suspects are known to the victims and their parents.”
