The Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) is in talks with Dutch partners to secure co-funding for a 25-megawatt gas to liquefied petroleum gas (gas-to-LPG) and power generation project aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.

Executive director of the MDGIF, Oluwole Adama, disclosed this during a meeting with representatives of Africa GTC Power and Invest International—a Dutch government public enterprise—on Tuesday, in Abuja.

The discussions centered on potential co-funding for a landmark Gas-to-LPG and power project in Ikwerre, Agbada, Port Harcourt, a post on the NMDPRA X handle on Thursday, showed

The initiative aims to repurpose flared gas, converting it into up to 25 megawatts of electricity and significant volumes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for households and industries.

This project supports Nigeria’s push for cleaner energy by expanding access to reliable power, cutting environmental emissions from gas flaring, and advancing national gas commercialisation goals.

Speaking at the meeting, Adama reaffirmed MDGIF’s dedication to strategic investments with tangible socio-economic benefits. He highlighted the project’s alignment with the Fund’s mandates under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, including gas infrastructure expansion, energy security enhancement, and a sustainable midstream and downstream sector.

No timeline for funding decisions or project rollout was disclosed.
