The Board of ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC) has appointed James Makinde as the new managing director of the company following the statutory retirement of Effiong Okon, effective 20th April 2026.
Until his appointment, Makinde was the general manager for Gas Business at Seplat Energy Plc. AGPC is an NNPC Limited–SEPLAT Energy Incorporated JV, and the operator of the flagship 300mmscfd ANOH gas plant.
Makinde is an industry professional with expertise in commercial deal delivery and project management.
He has worked in roles that included project management, asset management, gas market development, gas commercialisation, gas-to-power solution development, renewable energy, investment and portfolio management, and strategy development.
Before joining Seplat, he had over 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, mostly spent in different parts of Shell companies in Nigeria. His last role in Shell was as the West Africa Business Development Manager, Shell New Energies (now called Emerging Market Power), where he was part of the team that drove Shell’s investment in renewable and power businesses in Africa.
He is a respected voice in the industry and a keen contributor to Nigeria gas sector. He was the Chairman of the Oil Producers Trade Sector (OPTS) gas sub-committee, and a Non-Executive Director of the Gas Aggregator Company of Nigeria (GACN).
Makinde holds an MBA degree from Alliance-Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and an MSc degree in Offshore and Ocean Technology, Subsea Pipelines Engineering Specialisation, from Cranfield University, UK.
