‎A businessman has questioned why men are more interested in fighting for submission and respect than in building an actual home.
‎
‎He said this in response to a tweet from actor Yul Edochie that reads: “Men stop tolerating nonsense in the name of marriage or relationship.
‎
‎”If your wife or girlfriend doesn’t respect you, dump her immediately and get someone who respects you.
‎
‎”Your respect as a man is non-negotiable.”
‎
‎
‎Responding, Kelvin Onovo wrote: “A lot of Nigerian men today are fighting harder for submission than they are fighting to build an actual home.
‎
‎”And I genuinely don’t understand it. Ask many men what they want in a wife, and before anything else, before peace, before partnership, before a woman who actually wants to build something with them, you’ll hear ‘respect’ and ‘submission.’
‎
‎”What’s this obsession with submission and respect.
‎
‎”Why not a home that works?
‎
‎”Why not a wife who is your actual friend?
‎
‎”Why not children who grow up watching their parents laugh together?
‎
‎”Why not peace in your own house?
‎
‎”What is it about being submitted to that so many African men cannot get off their minds?
‎
‎”If you turn right, submissions; if you turn left, respect.
‎
‎”Can Somebody genuinely make me understand this?”
