11 Die, 32 Injured In Bauchi Road Accident

At least 11 people have been confirmed dead, and about 32 others injured in a fatal road crash along Jos-Bauchi expressway in Bauchi State.

Confirming the incident to reporters in Bauchi on Saturday, Bauchi State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the victims were burnt to death when the vehicles went up into flames following a collision between two vehicles.

According to FRSC, the crash occurred on Friday at Panshanu Hill along the Bauchi-Jos federal highway.

Two vehicles involved in the crash included a MAN mini-tanker, belonging to the fleet and operation of the Nigerian Police Force and the second vehicle, a white FAIT J5 Boxer bus with registration number KTU624XY, used for commercial purposes.

The crash occurred on a single carriageway with an unpaved condition, while the probable cause of the crash was identified as dangerous driving and worn-out tyres.

According to FRSC, about 43 people were involved in the accident comprising of 12 male adults, 19 female adults, five male children and seven female children.

Also, those injured included five male children, 19 female adults, seven female children and one male adult while the 11 killed included one male adult, three male children, five female adults and two female children.

LEADEDSHIP reports that the obstruction caused by the accident had been cleared while the injured victims were taken to Toro General Hospital for medical attention. In addition, bodies of the desceased victims were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
