A former Gombe State governor and Senator representing Gombe Central, Mohammad Danjuma Goje, has dismissed as fake a membership card of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) purportedly belonging to him and circulating on social media, insisting that he remained a committed founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant, Ahmed Isa Kashere, on Saturday, the federal lawmaker described the viral party card as the handiwork of “mischief makers” and people he called “ingrates” in Gombe State seeking to tarnish his image and mislead the public.

“The attention of the Office of Senator Mohammad Danjuma Goje, Sarkin Yakin Gombe, has been drawn to a fake membership card circulating on social media. Preliminary investigation reveals that it was the handiwork of ingrates in Gombe State to tarnish the image and portray Senator Goje in a bad light,” the statement read.

Goje emphasised that he has remained loyal to the APC since its formation in 2013 and has no intention of defecting to any other political party.

“Senator Goje remains a founding member of APC in Gombe State and the country. He is APC, APC is Goje in Gombe State. The cheap blackmail and negative machinations by the ingrates and their cronies will not stop the good people of Gombe Central and indeed Gombe State from their massive support for Senator Goje,” he stated.

The former governor also took a swipe at unnamed political opponents, accusing them of orchestrating failed attempts to undermine his political standing in the state.

“The fake membership card was a last resort of these ingrates after failing to mobilise constituents against the people’s Senator. Twice, they mobilised their cronies from the Yamaltu/Deba and Akko LGAs of Gombe Central Senatorial District. But to their dismay, the people shamed them as they unanimously endorsed Senator Goje for another term in the Senate,” the statement added.

Reaffirming his political allegiance, Goje declared unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu and pledged to work towards delivering Gombe State for the APC in the 2027 general election.

“I have never contemplated joining any other political party since I joined forces with others to form the APC in 2013. I cannot build a solid house and abandon it because of the antics and blackmail of ingrates,” he said.

Describing Tinubu as “the father of the country and APC’s national leader,” Goje vowed to “leave no stone unturned” in mobilising support for the President’s re-election bid in 2027.

He, however, acknowledged the party’s poor performance in his home State of Gombe during the 2023 presidential election, attributing it to the sidelining of key stakeholders at the time.
