Sports Instills Discipline, Resilience In Youths

The speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa, has identified Sports as a potent tool for instilling discipline, resilience and leadership in youths.

He affirmed this at 4th Biennial Inter-House Sports Competition of DE-Royal Apple Schools at the Agege Sports Stadium.

Ibadan emphasised the importance of grassroots investment in youth development and encouraged parents to continue supporting their children in both academics and sports.

“When schools combine academics with athletics, they produce well-rounded individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society. This is why we must continue to support initiatives that empower our young people,” he said.

The speaker also commended all the participants, saying, “Whether you come first, second, or last today, hold your heads high. You are already winners because you have shown courage by stepping onto the field. The future belongs to those who are bold enough to try.”

The managing director of DE-Royal Apple Schools with branches in Lagos and Ogun States, Mrs B. T. Obasa, said that for DE-Royal Apple Schools, the day was more than a sporting contest but also a celebration of leadership, discipline, and the promise of a brighter future for Lagos State.

“Our vision has always been to raise children who excel both in academics and in character. Sports is one of the ways we instill discipline and teamwork, and we are delighted to see our efforts recognized today,” she declared

Obasa, the special guest of honour, was joined by some lawmakers including Hon Noheem Adams (leader of the House), Hon Ege Adebisi, Hon Stephen Ogundipe, Hon Jubril AbdulKareem, and Hon Oladele Ajomale.

The school’s sporting fiesta featured thrilling races, relays and novelty events.
