The Nasarawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has declared support for Governor Abdullahi Sule’s endorsement of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada to be governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 governorship election.
Briefing journalists in Lafia on Tuesday, ALGON Chairman Safiyanu Isah Andaha said Governor Sule’s endorsement of Wadata was in the best interest of the state.
He described Wadada as the most suitable candidate to lead the APC to victory and sustain the development momentum recorded under Sule’s administration.
“After wide consultations with our constituents, we wish to say that we are unanimously and unequivocally in support of the choice of our hardworking and patriotic leader, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule,” he said.
“We are all agreed that Senator Wadada is the most suitable candidate, not only to lead our great party, the APC, to victory at this material time, but that he also has all the experience to continue with the unprecedented positive momentum of development the state has witnessed in the almost eight years of APC leadership with Engr. Abdullahi Sule, as the chief steward.”
Andaha expressed confidence that, with Wadada as Sule’s successor, Nasarawa State would continue to grow as a leading state in Nigeria in terms of peace, economic strength and political stability.
While acknowledging that other APC aspirants were “eminently qualified and politically blessed,” the ALGON chairman noted that only one person would emerge to occupy the seat in 2027.
He appealed for maturity, discipline and loyalty among party members as the primaries approached.
“We appeal to all governorship aspirants in the party to put aside their personal interest and to control their ambition. The supremacy of the party should continue to determine our actions,” Andaha said.
He said the APC is “large enough as a political party that can accommodate the realistic interests of its members,” urging for patience among members until their ambitions are fulfilled.
Andaha reiterated ALGON’s “total support and loyalty” to Governor Sule, commending him for uplifting the status of the state in the nearly eight years of his administration.
“The majority of people in the state are evidently satisfied with the lofty achievements recorded by his administration, and the good memories of purposeful leadership will remain with the people long after he might have completed his tenure,” he said.
The ALGON chairman assured the governor of the association’s continued support “until the last day of his tenure,” adding that his exemplary leadership would serve as a lasting legacy for his successor.
End.
