RMRDC Partners AfDB, Others To Unveil Nigeria’s Raw Materials Roadmap

The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and other strategic stakeholders, has launched a robust 10-year (2025-2034) Raw Materials Roadmap for Nigeria.

The director general of the Council, Prof Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, said this during a media hug in Abuja on Tuesday, stressing that the key objectives enumerated in the 10-year roadmap include creating a robust database for raw materials mapping and development.

The move also aims to achieve 30-95 per cent value addition to raw materials by 2034, strengthen partnerships and collaborations across public, private, and international spheres and, and build capacity by delivering 10,000 certifications and standards to laboratories and processes.

“In our sustained commitment to excellence and global best practices, RMRDC is today proudly ISO 9001:2015 certified. This recognition eloquently affirms the Council’s adherence to international quality standards in service delivery, research coordination, and institutional management.

“The next frontier for RMRDC centers on Innovation-driven industrial solutions, stronger commercialisation of research outcomes, expanded agro-industrial and mineral beneficiation value chains, strong and globally competitive manufacturing sector, sustainable and green raw materials development, and digital transformation for efficiency and market access.

“We are positioning RMRDC as a dynamic and global industrial enabler and development partner,” he said.

The media hug was aimed at encouraging media to play their role in driving awareness, shaping perceptions, and mobilising support for national development initiatives of the RMRDC, especially as the Council highlights its contributions to Nigeria’s economic diversification and industrial revolution agenda.
