Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has confirmed his appointment as the Head of Youth Mobilisation for the re-election campaign of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.
The award-winning artiste announced the development via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday. He expressed his readiness to lead the youth wing of the campaign council ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Davido, who has been a consistent supporter of the governor, noted that he is enthusiastic about the responsibility of ensuring a successful campaign process.
Confirming my appointment as the Head of Youth Mobilisation for the Osun State Governorship Campaign Council. We are ready to work,” the singer posted.
This role marks another official engagement for the Afrobeats star within the state administration. It would be recalled that in 2025, the Osun State government appointed Davido as the Chairman of the newly established Osun Sports Trust Fund.
The news has generated mixed reactions on social media. While many fans of the singer, particularly the ‘30BG’ fan base, praised his loyalty to his family, others expressed concerns about a global music icon’s involvement in active politics.
Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking a second term in office under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
