Bose Ogulu, the mother and manager of afrobeats star Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, has defended her son’s character. This comes amid allegations of arrogance.
In a chat with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, she disclosed that she is unruffled by the claims made about her son’s character, explaining that Burna Boy is confident and not proud.
“If knowing your worth and carrying yourself as such is arrogant, then it is a good thing. And I can’t apologise for that. Because I think we were born into a world that expected us to put our heads down. First is the colour of your skin, the colour of your passport, and for me, my gender,” she said.
She also added that she does not understand the general notion of that life. “I understand that if I know something, I know it, and I expect you to realise that I know it,” she pointed out.
Bose Ogulu is the daughter of Benson Idonije, who is said to have once managed Fela Kuti. Also nicknamed ‘Mama Burna’, she is an academic, businesswoman and talent manager.
