US President Donald Trump yesterday cancelled envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s trip to Pakistan for talks on the war with Iran.
On Friday, the White House said the pair would head to the country on Saturday, but Trump said “too much time wasted on traveling, too much work!”
In a post on Truth Social, he added, “Also, we have all the cards, they have none! If they want to talk, all they have to do is call!!!”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he was “yet to see if the US is truly serious about diplomacy”.
Trump’s comments came shortly after Araghchi left talks in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, where he said he put forward Iran’s position on a framework to end the war. (BBC)
