A former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has been commended for mentoring the current governor of the state, Dr Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, to achieve remarkable strides in the development of the state.
The chairman of Nigeria Youth and Women Mobilisation Initiative (NYWMI), Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed, who made the commendation at a press conference in Abuja, said Governor Aliyu achieved all the major development milestones in through the mentorship and support of the former Governor Wamakko.
He said the very aggressive infrastructural development across board in the state were traceable to the footprints of Wamakko’s legacies which have continued to inspire hope, progress and stability to the people of Sokoto.
He said that Wamakko has risen to be a respectable elder not only in Sokoto but Nigeria because of his capacity to align with the masses and always plays politics of dignity like the Sardauna of Sokoto played when he was alive.
He said Sokoto being a conservative society has its challenges but Governor Ahmed Aliyu has taken up these challenges through his alignment with progressive thinkers like Wamakko.
Alh. Abubakar Mohammed therefore called on the entire citizens of Sokoto to further support Sen. Wamakko and the governor to achieve more meaningful development in the state.
