The chairman of BUA Cement Plc, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has stated that Nigeria’s rapidly expanding population is opening up fresh avenues for cement distributors to scale their operations and deepen market reach.

Rabiu made this known at the company’s 2025 Distributors’ Awards held in Lagos over the weekend.

He lauded the distributors for their resilience and sustained performance over the years, noting that their responsibilities transcend the mere sale of cement products. According to him, they play a pivotal role in advancing socio-economic development across various parts of the country.

Rabiu further disclosed that the company was pursuing strategic capacity expansion initiatives to meet growing demand. These include the addition of Line 6 at its Sokoto plant and plans to establish a three-million-tonnes-per-annum facility in Ososo, both designed to enhance operational efficiency.

In his remarks, the managing director, Yusuf Binji, said the company was implementing measures to improve efficiency across its value chain. He also acknowledged the critical role distributors continue to play in sustaining the company’s operations.
