The Agbo Major-led faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has distanced itself from the recent opposition parties’ summit in Ibadan, Oyo State, which was held last weekend.

Major also demanded that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) comply with the Court of Appeal judgment and upload the names of its National Working Committee to the commission’s portal.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Monday, Major said “The NNPP categorically distances itself from the recent opposition parties’ summit in Ibadan. No recognised leader attended the gathering,” Major declared.

He warned that the presence of expelled members at the coalition meeting should not be mistaken for official NNPP participation.

The party called on coalition leaders to be cautious of impostors using the NNPP name to gain “unmerited relevance or favour.”

He said the party’s electronic membership registration, launched two weeks ago, has recorded encouraging progress nationwide.

He noted that the NNPP leadership has begun a comprehensive review of the exercise to boost transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness.

“Stakeholders, aspirants, zonal and state chairmen, and other officials were invited to assess implementation and strengthen the process,” he said.

He stressed that the goal is to build a credible, technology-driven political institution that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians.

Major disclosed that on April 23, 2026, the NNPP leadership met with INEC and pressed for compliance with court orders, urging the commission to upload the duly recognised National Working Committee, led by him, to its official portal without further delay.

He cautioned that continued disobedience of court orders could compel the party to join calls for the INEC chairman’s removal.
