In a showcase of history and hope, Government Secondary School (GSS) in Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the FCT Secondary Education Board has celebrated its 45th anniversary, as the school management commended the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, for the ongoing massive renovations in FCT schools.

The director and principal of the school, Mrs Nkoli Okedo, delivering her welcome address, applauded the minister for taking the decision to give a new face to schools across the territory, mostly schools that were long abandoned by previous administrations.

Okedo while describing the 45th milestone of GSS Bwari as a profound moment of reflection and pride, also expressed gratitude to the Mandate Secretary of the FCT Education Secretariat, Dr Danlami Hayyo, for his unwavering commitment to advancing education in the territory.

“I urge our students to remain focused and uphold the values of this great institution.

We also call for continued collaboration towards critical developmental projects, including the provision of a school bus, smart boards, and a functional e-library to enhance teaching and learning.

“This anniversary is a celebration of our enduring legacy of excellence, discipline, and character development since our establishment.

“Our institution has grown into a citadel of learning, consistently producing generations of outstanding students who have made meaningful contributions to society,” she said.

She also thanked key stakeholders, alumni, staff, parents, and partners, for their sustained support, reaffirming the school’s dedication to building on its strong foundation for generations to come.

Various speakers at the event praised the foresight of the founding fathers and acknowledged the pivotal roles played by past administrators.

“GSS Bwari has, over the years, distinguished itself in academics, character formation, and extracurricular activities,” one speaker noted.

They commended the director and principal for remembering the contributions of the school’s pioneers after so many years.

The students added colour and vibrancy to the occasion, participating actively through cultural displays, calisthenics, drama presentations, exhibitions of entrepreneurial projects, and musical performances.
