Gunmen on Monday abducted a farm manager, Afolabi Ajayi, in Imafon community, located in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 a.m. as the victim arrived at a poultry farm. He was said to have alighted from his vehicle when the assailants emerged from the bush and whisked him away to an unknown location.
A family source disclosed that the kidnappers had yet to establish contact with the family as of the time of filing this report.
“He came to the poultry farm to check on the workers and oversee operations, but the gunmen suddenly appeared from the bush and took him into the forest,” the source said.
The source added that the matter was promptly reported to the police.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, said operatives of the command had been deployed to the area to secure the victim’s release and track down the perpetrators.
“The command has been notified of a kidnapping incident at Imafon/Ilado, where a farmer was abducted while working on his farm,” Jimoh said.
“In swift response, additional security personnel, including tactical teams, have been deployed and are currently combing the surrounding bush to ensure the safe rescue of the victim and the apprehension of the perpetrators.
“The command assures the public that all necessary operational strategies are being employed, with utmost priority placed on the victim’s safety. Further updates will be communicated as the situation unfolds,” he added.
