The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has commended the Kano State Government for the progress recorded in ongoing road and flyover projects across the state.
Abbas, who spoke through a member representing Kumo Federal Constituency, Usman Bello Kumo, said the pace and quality of the projects reflected purposeful leadership and prudent management of public resources.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.
Kumo, who led a delegation on an inspection of key infrastructure projects in Kano, described the developments as clear evidence of responsible governance.
He noted that strategic investments in roads and bridges would ease traffic congestion, enhance mobility and boost economic activities in the state.
“The National Assembly is impressed with the pace and quality of work being delivered. These projects are a clear demonstration of leadership committed to the welfare of the people,” he said.
Kumo also reaffirmed the readiness of the National Assembly to support policies and programmes aimed at improving the living standards of Nigerians, stressing the need for stronger collaboration between federal and state governments.
He urged residents of Kano to support the administration to ensure timely completion of the projects.
Speaking during the inspection, Governor Abba Yusuf said the Dan’agundi and Tal’udu interchange flyovers would be completed next month.
He explained that the Dan’agundi axis had long suffered heavy traffic congestion, affecting commuters and businesses, prompting his administration to prioritise the construction of modern interchange flyovers and expansion of major roads.
The governor described the projects as landmark interventions that would provide lasting solutions to traffic challenges in key commercial areas of Kano metropolis.
Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, reiterating his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development as a means of improving mobility and attracting investment.
Other stakeholders, including a member of the House of Representatives, Aliyu Sani Madakin Gini; former APC National Treasurer, Bala Muhammad Gwagwarwa; and Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Baffa Babba Dan’Agundi, also praised the projects, describing them as transformative and beneficial to residents.
The inspection tour covered several ongoing and completed projects within the Kano metropolis.
