2027: Forum Petitions APC State Working Committee

An Ogun State-based socio-political group, Ketu Intelligentsia Forum (KIF), has petitioned the State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the senatorial ticket of the zone for the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

KIF in the petition dated 28th April, 2026, and signed by its secretary-general, Prince Sola Bamigbade; its director of Strategy and Mobilisation, AbdLateef Olusoji Emilandu and one other, copies of which were made available to journalists yesterday in Abeokuta, the forum demanded that APC’s SWC must zone the ticket for the senatorial district to Imeko-Afon in the spirit of equity and sustained electoral successes.

Commending the party’s leadership for what it described as the “peaceful handling of the consensus process” that produced Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the party’s governorship candidate, KIF also lauded the efforts of the three-time governorship aspirant in the zone, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, whose “sacrifice” at stepping down his ambition contributed to the party’s unity.

KIF in the petition argued that Isiaka’s influence and grassroots appeal should be recognised with a role that reflects his political standing and capacity to mobilise voters across the Ogun West Senatorial district, having demonstrated the spirit of “statesmanship and political maturity”.

The forum particularly stressed the need to address what it termed a “long-standing equity gap” in the senatorial district, noting that the Imeko-Afon axis has never produced a senator since the creation of Ogun State, emphasising that zoning the senatorial ticket to the area would not only correct historical marginalisation but also strengthen the APC’s electoral base in Ogun West.

It further claimed that the Ketu people, described as a major indigenous bloc within the district, are prepared to deliver a unified voting front for the party if its demand is met.

According to the forum, the APC’s victory in parts of Ogun West during the 2023 elections was the result of a strategic alignment that should not be taken for granted.

The letter emphasised that prioritising fairness and inclusion would help the party consolidate its gains and transform recent electoral successes into a lasting stronghold.
