Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, Rt. Hon. Najeem Folasayo Salaam, has welcomed the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria which nullified an earlier order directing the party to maintain the status quo ante bellum.

‎

‎Reacting to the ruling, in a statement by the director-general of the ADC Governorship Campaign Organisation in Osun State, Hon. Segun Olanibi, Salaam described the decision as a reaffirmation of the rule of law and a timely intervention in defence of constitutional order

‎

‎Apparently happy at the outcome of the legal battle, Salamcommended the panel of justices, led by Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, for overturning what he termed an improper and unwarranted decision by a lower court.

‎

‎The ADC candidate said the judgment reinforces the judiciary’s role as a critical pillar of democracy and the last hope of the common man. He added that the apex court’s intervention had prevented what he called attempts at political manipulation capable of undermining opposition parties.

‎

‎Salaam also criticised the actions of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing the electoral body and the ruling party of overreach in matters concerning the ADC.

He specifically faulted the removal of party leadership names from INEC’s portal, describing the move as reckless and unjustifiable.

‎Salaam assured party supporters that the ADC remains united and resilient ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State and expressed confidence in the party’s chances.

‎

‎He further dismissed the strength of rival parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party, insisting that the ADC’s popularity is based on credibility and public trust rather than political inducement.
