The Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum welcomed a new wave of legendary talent on April 28, inducting its ninth class during a ceremony at the Fisher Centre for the Performing Arts.
Among the honorees were Dann Huff, Keith Urban, Michael McDonald, Leland Sklar, and John Boylan, while Dolly Parton received the prestigious Industry Icon Award. Rock veterans George Thorogood & the Destroyers were also inducted, alongside the late piano virtuoso Nicky Hopkins.
The evening began with an intimate medallion ceremony hosted by CEO Linda Chambers, followed by a high-energy all-star concert led by Sam Palladio.
One of the night’s standout moments came when Dweezil Zappa joined George Thorogood & The Destroyers onstage for electrifying performances of classics like ‘Move It On Over’ and ‘Bad to the Bone.’ Accepting the honour, Thorogood humbly told the audience, “With humility, we say thank you.”
Tributes flowed throughout the night. Tony Brown honoured Sklar, while Garth Brooks praised the inductees as guiding lights for fellow artists. Trisha Yearwood and Wendy Moten delivered stirring performances, celebrating the legacy of those inducted.
A touching segment honoured Nicky Hopkins, with Peter Frampton calling him “a piano player’s piano player.” Performances of iconic songs like ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ and ‘Angie’ paid tribute to his enduring influence, while Vince Gill offered a heartfelt rendition of ‘You Are So Beautiful.’ Hopkins’ wife, Moira, accepted the honour on his behalf.
