May Day: Alia Commends Benue Workers For Driving Sectoral Transformation

‎Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has commended the state workforce for their immense contributions, which he said have seen the state witnessed transformation in key sectors.

The statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Alia commended the workers in the state and country, on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day celebrations.

‎The governor described 2026 May Day as an opportunity to celebrate the Benue workers, and to also highlight their importance in his administration’s efforts to transform the state and positively impact the lives of the people.

‎Alia described workers as important stakeholders in the implementation of his administration’s seven-point development plan.

‎Describing workers’ welfare as a necessity for better performance, governor Alia assured that his administration will continue to accord the welfare of the workers in the state a major priority; implement friendly policies that will enhance their welfare and boost their capacity.

Also, the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has felicitated with workers across the state and the country.

In a statement issued by the state chairman, Chief Benjamin Omale, the party described workers as the backbone of governance, economic growth, and social development, whose daily sacrifices continue to sustain the progress of Benue State and the nation at large.

The APC commended the dedication, resilience, and patriotism of workers in both the public and private sectors who, despite prevailing economic challenges, remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties.

The party noted that from teachers shaping the future of children, to healthcare professionals saving lives, civil servants driving administration, farmers ensuring food security, artisans supporting local enterprise, traders sustaining commerce, and professionals contributing across various sectors, workers remain the true engine of development.

He reaffirmed the party’s unwavering commitment to policies and programmes that promote the dignity of labour, improve workers’ welfare, ensure prompt payment of salaries and pensions, create opportunities for growth, and guarantee a more productive and rewarding work environment.

Omale particularly commended the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for prioritising workers’ welfare through reforms aimed at repositioning the civil service, clearing outstanding obligations, strengthening public institutions, and restoring confidence in governance.

The APC chairman also hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his administration’s commitment to labour-friendly policies and ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of Nigerian workers through economic reforms and strategic interventions.

“As a party, we recognise that no society can prosper without a motivated and protected workforce. We therefore celebrate the men and women whose hard work, discipline, and sacrifice continue to move Benue forward,” the statement added.
