Gov Sani Says Tinubu Has Done For North What No Leader Did

The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has said President Bola Tinubu has done more for the North than any leader in Nigeria’s history.

Sani made the remark while addressing a team of presidential media aides and journalists during a tour of Renewed Hope Legacy Projects in the state at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna.

The former senator, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Senate, said the administration of President Tinubu has initiated major infrastructure projects and laudable programmes across the northern region.

He cited, among others, the recent Federal Executive Council approval of contracts worth $2.99 billion for three rail projects across Kano, Kaduna, and Lagos states.

Sani noted that Kaduna is effectively a one-party state, as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has a firm grip on the state and would deliver President Bola Tinubu and all party candidates in the 2027 polls.

“I know a lot of people are talking about Northern Nigeria. Let me make it clear to all of you: President Bola Tinubu has done more for the North than any leader in Nigeria’s history.

“I can give you some facts. Two major projects were approved for Kaduna. One is a rail project covering about a 50km corridor, worth about N1 trillion. Many people are talking about Tinubu supporting the South. Is Kaduna in the South? Is it in the South-West? Kaduna is in the North.

“Again, the Federal Executive Council approved the construction of the 122km Mandu–Birnin Gwari Road, valued at about N178 billion. This is a road that was abandoned for over two decades. It takes leadership like President Bola Tinubu to see the need for such a project. He has fulfilled his promise.

“That is why the whole of Kaduna State will forever be grateful to President Bola Tinubu. I can assure you that Kaduna State, as we speak, has no opposition. That is the fact. Kaduna is a one-party state, and I have no apology for that,” he said.

The governor emphasised that President Tinubu has contributed significantly to the entrenchment and survival of democracy in Nigeria, adding that the only way to sustain it is to re-elect him in the next polls.

Governor Sani reiterated that his administration’s focus on security, infrastructure, and grassroots development is central to improving the lives of Kaduna residents, attributing progress to federal government initiatives.

“Some of us lost our freedom. We were detained. We fought for this democracy. Many journalists also lost their freedom, and some even lost their lives fighting to defend democracy and ensure it is sustained.

“President Bola Tinubu made sacrifices and supported many of us in the civil rights movement, as well as journalists. He was there for us. Even after the 1999 elections, he continued to ensure that democracy is entrenched.

“Many who now claim to be democrats were not part of that struggle. Some of them were even apologists for military rule.

“That is why, a few weeks ago, I made it clear: while some people are fighting for political office, others are working to undermine democracy. We must resist them, and the only way to do that is to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu, who has the political and democratic credentials,” he added.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, acknowledged Governor Sani’s developmental strides over the past three years.

He expressed concern that some communities had lacked basic infrastructure, such as roads, for decades, citing Kafanchan as an example of previously neglected areas now witnessing development.

Onanuga commended both the Kaduna State Government and President Tinubu for the progress recorded, attributing it to bold economic reforms introduced by the administration.

“I am very impressed and surprised that in Kaduna, for over two decades, some communities did not have roads. I noticed that in places like Kafanchan, which had long been neglected.

“What I have seen here is a different narrative. Governor Uba Sani is developing every part of the state.

“When President Tinubu came in, he made two key decisions: he removed fuel subsidies and ended subsidised foreign exchange. These steps freed up resources, and states are now receiving more funds. That is the impact we are seeing in Kaduna.

“When I return to Abuja, I will tell the President that the funds being allocated to states are being put to good use here. The governor has done remarkably well, and I am impressed by his achievements,” Onanuga said.

Also speaking, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, highlighted key achievements of the state government, including newly constructed road networks connecting 66 farming communities, many of which previously lacked access to markets, healthcare, and schools.

“Today, we visited the 35km Gwanaji–Kujama Road, the longest in Kaduna’s history and one of over 150 roads constructed—not just proposed, but completed.

“Tomorrow, we will showcase a strong example of collaboration between the Federal Government and sub-national authorities for the benefit of Nigerians.

“We will also visit the skills acquisition centre commissioned by the President last year. It is a state-of-the-art facility that can compete with any university of technology in Nigeria. This is part of the governor’s broader development agenda,” he said.
