A fire yesterday destroyed the Sokoto State office of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), wiping out property and vital documents.
The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday, leaving the office in ruins.
According to the secretary of the NLC Sokoto State council, Hamisu Hussaini Hamisu, the fire is suspected to have been caused by an alleged electrical spark.
He said the inferno consumed all office equipment, including computers, printers, refrigerators, televisions, chairs and critical documents spanning more than 30 years.
Hamisu added that the security guard on duty at the time was unable to contain the fire as it spread rapidly across the building.
It was gathered that firefighters arrived at the scene about an hour later and eventually brought the situation under control.
The extent of the damage has been described as total, with nothing salvaged from the office.
