IAWPA AppThe International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), an international non-governmental organisation with Special Consultative Status under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2019, has announced P.Amb Kikilemo Kaosarat Omidire as Head of Delegation to the 11th Annual Multi-Stakeholders Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), scheduled to hold at the United Nations Headquarters, New York.

The Forum, convened by the President of ECOSOC in collaboration with UN-DESA and UNCTAD, is a key preparatory meeting for the 2026 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF).

It brings together governments, scientists, innovators, private sector leaders, and civil society to harness STI as a means of accelerating the 2030 Agenda.

Speaking through its International Spokesman, P.Amb Emmanuel Nkweke, IAWPA confirmed that P.amb Kikilemo Kaosarat Omidire will lead a high-level delegation of SDG Ambassadors, peace advocates, and young innovators from Nigeria and other African countries to the New York Forum.

“P.Amb Kikilemo Kaosarat Omidire was selected to head the delegation because of her vast experience in peace diplomacy, technology advocacy, and grassroots SDG implementation. Her mandate is to ensure Africa’s voice, especially from civil society, is heard in shaping global STI partnerships,” P.Amb Nkweke stated.

IAWPA highlighted five critical benefits of the Forum to developing countries, particularly in Africa: Technology Transfer & Leapfrogging, Financing for Innovation, Capacity Building & Digital Skills, Policy Coherence, and Partnerships for Local Solutions:

P.Amb Omidire and the IAWPA delegation will present IAWPA’s “SDG Dashboard on Performance” as a citizen-led STI tool for tracking SDG progress in Africa; advocate for a UN-Africa STI Accelerator Fund to support ECOSOC-accredited NGOs deploying tech in conflict zones; host a side event on “PeaceTech: Using Innovation to Prevent Conflict and Build Resilience in Africa.”, and engage tech giants and UN agencies on deploying service robots, e-learning platforms, and telemedicine in rural Nigeria and Africa.

“STI is the fastest route to achieving the SDGs in Africa. But it must be inclusive, affordable, and peace-driven. That is the message IAWPA is taking to New York,” P.amb Kikilemo Kaosarat Omidire was quoted as saying ahead of the start of the programme

“As an ECOSOC-accredited body, IAWPA remains committed to using science, technology, and innovation as tools for peace, poverty eradication, and sustainable development. Outcomes from the Forum will be domesticated through IAWPA’s Global Schools Programme on SDGs and Business for Peace Programme across 54 African countries,” the statement added.
