A former Director of Finance of the Obedient Movement, Arc. Peter Agada, has announced his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Labour Party, distancing himself from the political tendency linked to the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Agada made the declaration during a visit to the Och’Idoma, His Royal Majesty Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John, at his palace in Benue State.

During the visit, he outlined a policy direction he termed “Labour Direct,” focusing on issues such as insecurity, youth unemployment, currency instability, infrastructure challenges, and governance.

He said his approach to security would involve a mix of community-based intelligence and technology, while also highlighting plans around job creation, particularly in sectors like agriculture and solid minerals.

Agada also spoke on education and healthcare reforms, noting the need to align skills development with labour market demands, and called for greater emphasis on merit in public service.

He stated that his decision to join the presidential race was driven by concerns over governance and socio-economic conditions in the country.

Agada is the founder of Cyrus Group Nigeria and has been associated with the Congress of Nigerian Professionals.

In his remarks, the Och’Idoma acknowledged the increasing involvement of professionals in politics but raised concerns about internal divisions within the Idoma community.

He urged greater unity among his people and refrained from endorsing any political ambition, while offering general prayers for guidance.
