Another legal logjam has emerged for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), following indications that both parties may be sharing the same National Legal Adviser.
A check on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as of May 5, 2026, shows “Barr. Reuben Egwuaba” listed as National Legal Adviser for both parties.
The development has set social media on fire, with users questioning whether it is lawful for two registered political parties to share a key executive officer.
On X (formerly Twitter), some users described the situation as “legally questionable,” arguing that political parties are expected to maintain distinct executive structures, particularly in sensitive roles such as legal advisory.
Others suggested it could point to administrative lapses or delayed updates on official records.
Similar concerns were raised on Facebook, where some users alleged possible irregularities, while others urged caution pending clarification from the parties or the electoral body.
