The Nigeria Police Force has failed to reveal the identities of the other suspects involved in the killing of Delta State singer Oghenemine Million Ogidi.

This adds to the many unanswered questions about the police handling of the case following Ogidi’s death at the hands of a police officer, ASP Usman Nuhu.

Activist Harrison Gwamnishu, while sharing updates on the killing of an upcoming singer, alleged that the culprits who were with the ASP Nuhu in the trending videos, had not been identified and arrested.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Gwamnishu stated that the incident happened on Sunday, not Tuesday when he shared it, but that the police had remained silent about it.

According to him, after he shared the video, he received calls from several people asking him to pull it down because they were trying to sweep the matter under the carpet.

He explained that he got the video on Tuesday, 28 April, and had to make findings to confirm it was not an old recording.

According to him, ASP Usman acted on instructions after people at the park called the Area Commander in Delta State, Aliyu Shaba.

He noted that the commander should be aware of the case and challenged the inspector general of police to investigate him as well.

The activist explained that the singer did not die at the scene where he was first shot, but that ASP Nuhu took him to the police station and shot him again, after which he later died.

He stated, “Where is the owner of the waybill? Why are they not looking for the owner yet? Where is Mena’s phone? Where is the driver who collected the waybill? Where is the phone number of the person who sent the package, and who is receiving it?”

Gwamnishu also called the names of two civilians who assisted the ASP Nuhu Usman in the execution of Mena and said the IGP was talking about ASP Nuhu’s squad members who were not at the scene of the killing instead of looking for the civilians captured in the video aiding and abetting the extrajudicial killing.

Force public relations officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, dleclined to reveal the identities of other suspects, noting they will be made known when the time comes.

While parading the five suspects on Sunday in Abuja, the Force public relations officer said, “Following the conclusion of investigations, ASP Nuhu and three other members of his team have been arrested and are currently in custody. Internal disciplinary procedures have been concluded against all officers found culpable.

“The Force wishes to state clearly and without ambiguity that all indicted officers have been recommended for dismissal from the Nigeria Police Force. The Police Service Commission has reviewed and ratified this recommendation. Their dismissal is therefore confirmed and takes immediate effect.

“The case file has been formally forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation for vetting and prosecution. The Force will cooperate fully with the AGF’s office to ensure that this matter is prosecuted to its logical conclusion before a court of competent jurisdiction.”

The police, however, revealed that the two men who were seen on the video with ASP Nuhu are vigilante members, and that they are currently on the run.

According to Force PRO, “The driver who delivered the parcel from Yenagoa, as well as two members of the vigilante group involved, remain at large. Tactical teams have been deployed, and coordinated investigative measures are ongoing to ensure their arrest and prosecution.

“The Nigeria Police Force reassures Nigerians, particularly the family of Mr Mene Ogidi, that justice will be served in this matter.”

It stated that the  Force does not shield officers who violate the law.

“No rank, no position, and no circumstance will be permitted to place any officer above accountability. This case is being handled with the full weight of transparency and institutional integrity.

“The Nigeria Police Force is aware that the eyes of Nigerians and the international community are on this matter, and we are resolved that our actions will reflect the highest standards of justice, accountability, and respect for human rights,” it added.
