Four Dead As Gunmen Attack Farmers In Benue

Gunmen have ambushed and killed four farmers who were returning from the farm along the Odugbeho–Aila Road in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

A resident of the area who pleaded anonymity said those killed were Ochefije Elijah Ojema, Igojuju Husaini, Odiya Ochowechi and Ochoyoda Adejo.

Confirming the incident, Chairman of Agatu local government area, Melvin Ejeh, said it was now difficult to attack and overrun any community in Agatu LGA, “hence they resort to ambush, which is a little more complex to confront”

Ejeh added that the security operatives’ clearance operation was ongoing to flush out bandits terrorising the area.

Meanwhile, Benue State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Edet Udeme, did not respond to calls when contacted over the attack.
