Nasarawa Rep, Nalaraba Withdraws From Guber Race, Backs Wadada

Support for the governorship bid of Senator Ahmed Wadada received a boost yesterday with Hon. Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba, jettisoning his ambition to back Governor Abdullahi Sule’s choice.

Nalaraba currently represents Awe/Doma/Keana Constituency in the House of Representatives, The member had earlier indicated interest to vie for the governorship seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, he said he decided to withdraw from the race in solidarity with Governor Sule’s choice of aspirant.

The lawmaker instead , purchasedd the nomination and expression of interest forms to contest for the Nasarawa South Senatorial seat.

He told journalists in Lafia that the decision to back Wadada followed wide consultations with party stakeholders, constituents and elders across the state.

“As a loyal party person, I align myself totally with the decision of His Excellency, the Executive Governor. I hold the unity and stability of the APC above my personal ambition.

“At critical moments of every political consideration, sacrifice and corporate interest of the state must prevail over personal ambition,” he said.

The lawmaker promised to deploy his structure in ensuring that the governor and party’s choice emerged victorious at the end of the process.

He said his resolve to go to the Senate was in response to calls from stakeholders in Nasarawa South Senatorial District.

He appreciated members of his campaign organisation, ward and local government coordinators, women and youth groups, traditional and religious leaders, and thousands of supporters for their loyalty and sacrifices during his governorship bid.
