Former Nigerian international Osaze Odemwingie has issued a passionate warning to Victor Osimhen, urging the prolific forward to resist any allure from Manchester United, describing the club as a career-killing destination for strikers due to its suffocating expectations.
Speaking to Brila FM, Odemwingie—who experienced the rigors of the Premier League with Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, and Cardiff City did not mince words about the unique dangers lurking at Old Trafford. He argued that the club’s immense stature and insatiable demand for immediate results create a toxic environment where forwards are quickly turned into scapegoats.
“I didn’t specifically mention Manchester United because the problem there is huge. The pressure on strikers is immense. You have to stay away from that,” Odemwingie stated. He pointed to a long history of expensive forwards crumbling under the weight of the red shirt.
“We have seen this with Romelu Lukaku and many other strikers because the club is so big and demands results, they will always find a scapegoat.”
Instead of a move to the Premier League giants, the former winger mapped out a much safer and more suitable career path for the current Galatasaray striker. He identified three “mature” European powerhouses where Osimhen’s talents would be nurtured rather than exploited.
“Arsenal and Barcelona would be good for Osimhen they are mature clubs,” Odemwingie explained. He admitted a personal bias toward the Gunners, adding, “Arsenal are my father’s team, so I mentioned them first. Real Madrid are also a great club for him.”
Odemwingie broke down the tactical reasons why the Nigerian striker, would thrive at the Santiago Bernabéu in particular. He praised Osimhen’s technical skills, physical dominance, and aerial prowess, insisting they are perfectly aligned with the demands of the highest level.
“Wherever he goes, he can move the ball beautifully and demand possession. He is also good in aerial duels,” Odemwingie noted. “Real Madrid’s pitch is wide and very suitable for his runs. He has a height advantage, and he runs well.”
The former Premier League star concluded his plea by advising Osimhen to be selfish with his ambition. He urged the 25-year-old to choose a club that serves his peak playing years, rather than allowing himself to be used as a solution for another team’s dysfunction.
Meanwhile, Osimhen remains focused on his immediate task at Galatasaray, where his 13 goals and five assists in 21 league games plus seven goals in 10 Champions League matches have made him the hottest property in Europe.
Despite a recent 4-1 setback against Samsunspor that delayed their title party, Osimhen has confidently vowed to secure the Süper Lig championship at home against Antalyaspor before deciding his next blockbuster move.
