The recent surge of stage production has underscored the growing reliance of Nigeria’s creative industry on telecommunications infrastructure, as connectivity providers increasingly play behind-the-scenes roles in delivering large-scale performances.

At the centre of this shift is ipNX, which provided connectivity support for the Queen Esther Musical staged by the Society for the Performing Arts in Nigeria. .

The production, held in Lagos, combined live theatre with digital streaming and enhanced audiovisual elements, reflecting a broader trend where stage performances are increasingly dependent on stable, high-capacity internet infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the collaborations point to a shift in how creative content is produced and consumed, with audiences now expecting both physical and digital access to performances.

Speaking on the development, head of Sales, ipNX Retail, Akintunde Taiwo, noted that the company’s role extended beyond traditional telecom services. “This production broadcast required precision, speed, and reliability, all of which our network is designed to deliver,” he said.

Taiwo added that the firm is positioning itself as an enabler across sectors. “Beyond telecoms, we see ourselves as partners in progress across sectors, and this collaboration with SPAN highlights how our solutions can seamlessly support the creative industry just as effectively as we do small enterprises and critical services,” he stated.

For the organisers, the integration of technology was central to the production’s execution, particularly in reaching audiences beyond the physical venue.

On her part, founder of Society for the Performing Arts in Nigeria,(SPAN), Sarah Boulous, said the scale of the musical required dependable technical support. “The scale and ambition of this production required a technology partner we could rely on completely as we wanted audience to enjoy seamless streaming on the Zaia app,” she said.

She added that connectivity challenges remain a critical concern for live productions adopting digital formats. “ipNX delivered exceptional bandwidth and stability, allowing us to integrate digital elements seamlessly and create a truly memorable experience. Their support played a significant role in bringing our creative vision to life,” she said.

Hence, the partnerships highlight opportunities within Nigeria’s creative economy, reflecting a growing intersection between technology and performance arts, as producers seek to expand audience reach through digital platforms.
