Senator Ibrahim Mustapha, representing Kaduna North Senatorial District of Kaduna State, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Mustapha’s letter of defection was read on the floor of the Senate on Thursday by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, who presided at plenary.

In the letter titled “Defection from PDP to ADC,” the lawmaker said his decision was informed by the lingering leadership crisis within the PDP.

“I write to inform you of my decision to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress. This decision is due to the leadership crisis affecting the party,” he said.

“Subsequently, after wide consultations with my constituents and political associates, I have decided to join the African Democratic Congress to further my political career.”

Mustapha also expressed appreciation to members of the PDP for the opportunity to serve under the party’s platform.
