The Renewed Hope Ambassadors has defended the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Northern Nigeria, insisting that the administration has fulfilled major aspects of its campaign promises through ongoing infrastructure and development projects across the region.

The group stated this following a media tour of federal government projects in parts of the North West organised in collaboration with the presidential media team.

In a statement signed by its director of media and publicity, Tunde Rahman, the group said the tour covered projects from Zuba in the Federal Capital Territory through Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa and Kebbi states.

According to the statement, the federal government is executing 260 Special Intervention Projects nationwide through the Federal Ministry of Works, with 48 of them located in the Northwest states of Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.

The group described the figure as the highest among the six geopolitical zones, saying the projects would improve transportation, agriculture, trade and economic activities across the region.

Among the projects inspected was the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway. The statement said Section One of the project, stretching from Zuba Junction to beyond Jere and handled by Infiouest International Construction Company, is nearing completion, while work has commenced on Section Two.

It also noted that the project includes concrete pavement and solar-powered streetlights, with completion expected later this year.

In Kaduna State, the delegation visited the Kaduna Western Bypass project, which had reportedly been abandoned for more than two decades.

The 21-kilometre dual carriageway, according to the group, has reached about 50 per cent completion.

The statement further highlighted progress on the Kaduna-Kano-Katsina-Maradi railway project, describing it as one of the administration’s major infrastructure initiatives aimed at boosting transportation, trade and agriculture between Northern Nigeria and neighbouring Niger Republic.

According to the group, work is ongoing on the railway flyover bridge in Kaduna, with completion expected by December 2026.

In Kano State, the delegation inspected ongoing projects at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, including a cardiovascular centre, paediatric centre and student hostel reportedly facilitated through constituency projects linked to Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin.

Other projects visited in Kano included the N27 billion irrigation project in Garko, ecological intervention projects, solar energy facilities of the Energy Commission of Nigeria and a 10-hectare Agricultural Incubation Centre at Bayero University Kano.

The delegation also inspected the headquarters of the North West Development Commission located along Murtala Mohammed Way in Kano.

In Jigawa State, the statement said the section of the Kaduna-Kano-Katsina-Maradi railway project passing through the state is nearing completion.

It added that work is progressing steadily on the Kebbi section of the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, particularly Phases 2A and 2B covering kilometres 120 to 385.

According to the group, construction activities including site clearance, stone base installation and concrete pavement work are ongoing, with completion levels put at 40 per cent for Section 2A and 16 per cent for Section 2B.

The group maintained that the scale of projects being executed across the North demonstrates the Tinubu administration’s commitment to regional development.

It urged critics of the administration to inspect the projects firsthand rather than rely on political narratives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
