Hailey Bieber has explained the major sale of her skincare brand, Rhode, and the goals she set for the company before its acquisition by e.l.f. Beauty.

In an interview with Time published May 6, Bieber revealed that she had a clear financial target in mind while negotiating the sale of Rhode, saying she refused to accept anything below $1 billion.

“I was like, ‘It has to be this number. I will not go for less,” she recalled, describing the figure as a personal goal and “the line I drew in the sand.”

Following the acquisition, Bieber took on the roles of chief creative officer and head of innovation at Rhode.

The model also stressed the importance of keeping the skincare brand accessible and inclusive, explaining that while beauty brands can sometimes feel exclusive, she believes skincare should be for everyone.
