Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited has handed over a newly furnished and ICT-enabled office complex to the Nigeria Customs Service at the PTML terminal within the Tin Can Island Port Complex, in a move aimed at improving cargo clearance efficiency and trade facilitation.

The facility was officially handed over by the Managing Director of PTML, Ascanio Russo, during a ceremony attended by Customs officials, terminal operators and industry stakeholders.
Russo described the project as part of PTML’s commitment to supporting Customs operations and strengthening collaboration between terminal operators and regulatory agencies to achieve seamless cargo movement at the port.

According to him, the new office complex was designed to provide a modern and functional working environment capable of improving operational efficiency, professionalism and productivity among Customs officers.

“This project symbolises our enduring partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service and our collective determination to improve operational standards at the port. We promised to provide additional offices to Customs and today we are proud to fulfil that commitment with a facility designed to provide a modern, comfortable and highly functional workspace for officers,” he said.

Russo noted that providing regulatory agencies with adequate infrastructure and technology support would help enhance operational effectiveness and contribute to faster cargo processing and improved trade facilitation.

He also commended officers and men of the PTML Command for sustaining cargo throughput and supporting government revenue generation despite operational challenges.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Customs Area Controller of the PTML Command, Joe Anani, expressed appreciation to PTML for delivering the project.

Anani described the office complex as a timely intervention that would improve administrative coordination, officer productivity and operational efficiency within the command.

“This is truly a dream come true for us. PTML has demonstrated genuine commitment, responsibility and partnership through this laudable gesture. A modern workplace like this has a direct impact on the efficiency and motivation of officers,” he said.

He added that the facility would strengthen the command’s capacity to facilitate legitimate trade while ensuring compliance with government regulations.

Stakeholders at the event said the development would support faster cargo clearance procedures, improve administrative processes and deepen cooperation between terminal operators and regulatory authorities in the maritime sector.

PTML, regarded as Nigeria’s leading roll-on roll-off terminal, handles vehicle and container imports while providing integrated logistics and terminal services through technology-driven cargo handling operations.
