The Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in Zamfara State Alhaji Lawal Barau Bungudu.
On Sunday lauded Governor Dauda Lawal’s massive infrastructural development and strategic policies saying they are contributing to ending insecurity.
According to Bungudu, “No single administration since the inception of Zamfara state has invested so much into security. You can be rest assured that most of the areas prone to this insecurity are rural areas. Let’s take for example Magami, Zamfara. I used to have a farm along that axis. Believe me, I spent seven years without going to that farm but Alhamdulillah, with the way and manner these projects are being carried out, the projects opened these areas and made quicker response by the military easier and faster. Before now, if you want to go to Dansadau, it was a mirage. You can’t think of going to Dansadau because the road was very bad but now, starting from Gusau, go as far as Wanke, and then from Magami to Dansadau the roads are accessible giving the military quicker because we awarded contracts to two companies with the intent that by the time the road is completed, security will improve tremendously. So also, Maru Loop Road, there are two bridges across that road. Currently, if you go there, you will see that the road is nearing completion as well. So, we believe the infrastructural development we are putting in Zamfara is another step towards improving and enhancing security.”
On the chances of Governor Dauda Lawal in 2027 elections, Bungudu maintained that ” people were saying we were PDP, and now we are in APC. They gave Dr. Dauda Lawal the opportunity to be the candidate for APC. No primaries, no nothing. So which other opposition do you have in Zamfara? Before now, it was PDP and APC. Now we are all in APC. I don’t think there’s any need to even worry over his chances of winning in the next election not because he is in APC, but because of his performance. There’s nowhere across the state where Dr. Dauda Lawal’s impact is not felt in terms of education, health, roads, electricity and water. So people will certainly bring him back come 2027.”
