An aspirant for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress All Progressives Congress, Yerima Shettima Yerima Shettima, has withdrawn from the race, declaring support for the party’s candidates ahead of 2027.

The development comes as internal consultations continue within the party over senatorial and other elective positions ahead of the general election cycle.

Shettima said his decision was not driven by fear, weakness, or cowardice, but by what he described as a commitment to party unity, discipline, and collective progress, urging members to embrace the “voice of reasoning.”

Addressing journalists in Kaduna on Sunday, Shettima called for genuine reconciliation among aggrieved members, saying such steps were necessary to strengthen the party and ensure lasting peace, cohesion, and progress within its ranks.

According to him:
“After wide consultations and deep reflection, I have decided to respect the decision of our great party regarding the senatorial contest”
