Tension erupted at Raddai Metropolitan School in Jalingo on Saturday evening as some youths reportedly attacked the member representing Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sadiq Tafida.
The youths were said to have accused the lawmaker of neglecting his constituency after winning the 2024 elections, alleging that he had stayed away from the area until his recent return to seek their support again.
Eyewitnesses said the situation became rowdy as the aggrieved youths confronted the federal lawmaker during a gathering organised to address constituents.
Sources, however, said the crisis was brought under control following the intervention of the chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area, Hon. Nura Dantsoho, who appealed to the youths to remain calm and avoid further escalation.
It was further gathered that Tafida later left the venue safely after order was restored, although details surrounding his exit remain unclear.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the lawmaker nor his aides had officially reacted to the incident.
The Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Police Command, ASP Victor Mshelizah, could not be reached for comments at the time of filing this report.
