Borno State governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has said the people of the state will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) in the 2027 general elections.

Zulum made the statement on Monday during the APC senatorial primary election for Borno Central held in Maiduguri, where party members gathered to select and affirm candidates ahead of the 2027 polls in Borno State.

He praised President Tinubu for appointing Senator Kashim Shettima as Vice President, describing it as a major honour for the state.

Zulum said Borno people would continue to support the President, declaring: “Insha Allah, the people of Borno State will vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.”

The governor also backed Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan for another term as Senator for Borno Central, noting that he emerged as the party’s candidate without opposition.

The election committee said the primary was peaceful and followed APC rules, adding that since there was only one candidate in the district, he was confirmed through voice vote.

The committee chairman, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, officially declared Kaka Shehu Lawan as the APC candidate for Borno Central.

Senator Lawan thanked the party and Governor Zulum for their support and promised to serve the people well if re-elected.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (Independent National Electoral Commission) and security agencies monitored the exercise, which was attended by top APC leaders and government officials.
